The Medical Assistant Program
Program Length: 720 Hours
       55 Credit Units

This program is designed to prepare students for
entry-level positions as a Medical Assistant in either
clinical and/or administrative capacity.

The instruction provides student with the skills for routine
diagnostic laboratory procedures, understanding of the
administration of medication, entry-level skill proficiency
require for assisting in routine patient examination and
surgical procedures. In addition, students will gain
knowledge of the legal as well as ethical responsibilities
outlined in the Scope of Practice. Upon successful
completion, students will have the knowledge and
technical skills to obtain entry-level employment in HMOs,
medical clinics, chiropractic offices, and rehabilitation
centers.

The Pharmacy Technician Program
Program Length:  600 Clock Hours
            49 Credit Units

Pharmacy Technician Program is designed to provide students
with the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary for an
entry-level technician position in a retail, hospital or home health
pharmacy.

CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT (150 Hours)
Description:   

This program provides students with job skills needed to become qualified to work with
residents of long term care facilities and patients in hospitals.  

Duration:  

Combined with the Home Health Aide class, these programs will last for 3.5 months.

Methodology:  

A combination of lecture, participation, discussion, return demonstration, role-playing, readings,
quizzes and tests
.

Admission Requirements:  

Incoming students must be at least 17 years of age and have a high school diploma or
equivalent.  To enter clinical practice, students must also submit a recent physical exam
including a TB test a fingerprint card and hold a current CPR card.

HOME HEALTH AIDE (40 Hours)
Description:   

Program provides students with job skills needed to become qualified to work with patients
needing in-home care and companionship.  

Duration:  

Combined with the Nursing Assistant Class, these programs will last for 3.5 months.

CNA / HHA COMBINED COURSE  (190 Hours)
LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE (1550 Hours)
Description:   

Part-Time Program:
Designed for the working adult, the PCN Vocational Nursing Program is a part-time course
meeting evenings and weekends.  The working adult can continue with regular employment
and still receive a quality education without the sacrifices of a full-time class schedule.

Full-Time Program:
The fastest way to a quality LVN education!  The intensive full-time program meets 5 days a
week and concludes in only 12 months. Ideal for the recent high school graduate and those
without current employment.

Duration:  

Part Time Program:
Meeting four times weekly (two weeknights including weekends), this program totals 18
months. The course includes 1550 hours training, 590hrs in classroom theory and 960hrs
clinical practice.

Full Time Program:
Monday to Friday
8:00am - 3:00pm Theory and 7:00am - 3:00pm Clinical

The course is offered as a BRN-approved Continuing Education Program for Registered
Nurses for recertification requirement.

This program discusses the advanced topics of management of central lines, transfusion
therapy, and antineoplastic theory.

A Certificate of Completion of 30 contact hours shall be granted to participants who
successfully completed the IV Therapy Program as a prerequisite for RN re-certification
requirements.

Admission Requirements:

Students seeking admission to the IV Therapy Program must have completed the following basic
requirements before receiving an application: For Continuing Education Program - valid RN
license.
Advance Intravenous Therapy Program

Preferred College of Nursing

Incoming students must:
1) Be at least 17 years of age;
2) Possess a high school diploma or equivalent;
3) Attain 80% score in the entrance examination given by the school; and
4) Have no physical or emotional impairment which could restrict performance of clinical
activities or hinder attainment of objectives as noted in a provided medical clearance.

RN Continuing Education Program
A Self-Learning Module
Program Length: 30 Hours
   3 Credit Units

The course focuses on principles and methods for teaching adult learners in formal as well
as informal settings.  It focuses on the roles of the educator in contemporary nursing and
provides an opportunity for participants to design, implement and evaluate learning
experiences in nursing programs, staff development and/or continuing education.  Emphasis
is on the application of teaching, learning and evaluation strategies.  This program includes
learning theory, human development and learning styles as well as literacy, adults with
disabilities, and the role of cultural competence as considerations for design and planning of
educational offerings in community settings.

This course is intended primarily for nurses for their recertification requirements, staff nurse,
administrators, instructors for student nurses and for anybody who views teaching as a craft and
learning as fundamental to growth and the expansion of life possibilities.

Program Length: 36 Hours

This course is designed to prepare Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs)
to start and superimpose intravenous fluid via primary or secondary infusion lines and
perform blood withdrawal.  The course will cover psychological preparation of the patient,
legal aspect in IV therapy & blood withdrawal, infection control, indications for IV therapy,
types of venipuncture devices, delivery systems, intravenous fluids, venipuncture sites,
observation of the patient, regulation of the fluid flow, selection of equipment, complications
of IV therapy, methods of blood withdrawal, complications and preparations of withdrawal
sites.

Students will perform simulated and actual intravenous catheterizations and blood
withdrawals .  LVNs will receive 36 contact hours upon successful course completion.
